Adventure Training

Adventure Training at 1476 Squadron

At 1476 Squadron RAFAC, Adventure Training is something that we take very seriously. We believe that adventure training is a fun way to teach cadets new skills and abilities that will help them in later life. As part of joining the squadron, and before going on any trips, cadets will recieve whats known as IET or Initial Expedition Training, which teaches cadets many basic life skills such as cooking on expeditions or planning expeditions for example.

After completing their IET, cadets have the opportunity to take part in all of the trips and training that we and the RAFAC have to offer. In the past, we have taken cadets on many different and varied trips, such as mountain biking, canoeing, horse riding and many more. Part of what allows us to take our squadron’s cadets on these amazing experiences is the experience and training of our staff, who have qualifications in many different things, from mountain biking to navigating.

Essex Wing also hold a yearly AT camp in Wales, where cadets can do things such as absailing, horse riding, rock climbing (indoor and outdoor), caving, white water rafting, hillwalking and sailing. This camp is one of a kind, and cadets who have gone on it always come back with a smile on their face and many stories to tell!

In conclusion, we at 1476 Squadron RAFAC take great pride in our adventure training syllabus and we would love to share it with any new cadets who join our squadron!
