Welcome to the website of 1476 (Rayleigh) Royal Air Force Air Cadet Squadron! The Royal Air Force Air Cadets are the UK’s largest youth organisation, open to young men and women in Year 8 and above.
Though sponsored by the RAF, and therefore a youth military organisation, it is important to point out that we are not a recruitment programme for the Armed Forces. Instead, we aim to offer a large range of training, courses, and activities which will will benefit you in both civilian and military (if you choose it) life.
Our squadron offers a wide and varied training curriculum, ranging from First Aid, the Duke Of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme, to BTecs in Aviation Studies, STEM, and Leadership and Project Management. Adventure Training is also a large part of our squadron with kayaking, canoeing, rock climbing, hill walking, archery and mountain biking being some of the many activities we offer.
As the Air Cadets, we offer opportunities the other cadet forces cannot. Flying, gliding and aircraft recognition are core activities in our organisation – with the option for individuals who excel in cadet life to apply for flying scholarships.
Please have a look at our navigation menu above, for further information on what our squadron had to offer young people like you. If you are interested, or would like further information, please contact us via our contact information page.
